For AB's tenth anniversary Mendo did that review and had Sofie Liv in a guest role as her evil mirror self--much like Spock did in the actual ST episode. Hence we have Mirror Sofie--and you're right about being conventional, since she's one of the most (if not THE most) popular and recurring reviewers here. A couple of random thoughts. On the impatience with Final Fantasy VII, part of that may be getting older rather than related to the internet. When we are kids we have much fewer responsibilities and our sense of how limited our time on the planet will be is much less, which I think would translate to less patience for busywork from a fantasy universe. That's one of my problems with gaming compared to fiction. Fiction is not about having to click a few hundred times in order to reach the next bit of story development. The other thought I had relating to your comments was that the paranoia related to following negativity in the news has a name called "The Mean World Syndrome," which is a theory to look up if you have the interest and spare time in one of your non-internet-abstaining periods! Throughout the movie, almost everything they tried to do failed. They had been driving through miles and miles of the mist-covered lands and saw nothing but death and destruction. So, when the jeep ran out of gas, they had no real reason to keep fighting because in their eyes, there was nothing left to fight for. Like Josh said in the video, they perceived their options as either A) Keep running and eventually be killed and devoured, or B) Remain within the jeep and eventually be found by the monsters or starve to death. So, their choice is completely understandable.
